Tea detox

Tiny Tea Detox

In Life by LauraLeave a Comment

One of the greatest stories I know is about a girl named Alice and her eating habits. With each bite and swig she takes, there’s an immediate consequence but eventually, she finds her right size and all is good in the world. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve felt exactly like her – snatching up a cup labeled “drink me if…” expecting that, by some magic, I’d notice myself shrink or grow with a few sips of tea. What’s most amusing – I actually have.

Drink me if you feel heavy, bloated, lethargic and want to make some aesthetic changes to your body.

That’s what the Your Tea site claims. Their Tiny Tea detox started out as an unsolicited experiment for me to see if this stuff would actually work. Their recent social media blitz had me curious: drink tea, lose weight, gain energy. Who would complain about that? So I ordered a box of the 14-day supply thinking I could get away with not spending a ton while still getting to try it out. At day 16 – two days after the end of my detox – I’m crushed that I didn’t order the 28-day box from the beginning.

According to the site:

You should see a reduction in body fat and a reduction in fluid retention. If you have any cellulite, it should clear up too. If you have had digestive issues in the past, you may find that you’re better able to digest food that you have found difficult to. Your skin and eyes will clear up and when TinyTea is consumed along with a healthy diet and your mind & spirit should feel more grounded, less agitated.

And here’s what I noticed:

Day 1 – Unsure, but on board. This stuff tastes a lot better than expected.

Day 4 – Slightly more energized and focused later in the workday.

Day 6 – Feeling slimmer. Me and this tea…we could be friends.

Day 9 – Noticed a change in my appetite and cravings for the first time. No weekend snacking! A mid morning sandwich and half of a chicken sandwich for dinner were more than enough for the day.

Day 10 – Out and about with friends so mid-day tea was a bust. Still noticed that I felt very full after just a few bites of dinner though.

Day 11 – Hardly hungry again. Feeling full quickly and don’t have snacky cravings late in the workday.

Day 12 – My sleep cycle is back on track! Fell asleep before 10 last night – that hasn’t happened in months! Woke up easy. No lunchtime sugar cravings either.

Day 14 – Whoa, healthy skin! Feeling great, loving the good sleep I’m finally getting and the increased energy through the day.

So – how did my experience measure up to those claims?

Over 14 quick days, I watched my waistline shrink with little to no change to my typical workout and eating habits. Of course, those eating habits changed for me anyway when my appetite went through a stint of being nearly nonexistent. Not only did I love the results, I was so excited to see for myself that the claims I’ve read online seem to be honest. I’m really looking forward to trying out Her Tea, a daily tea for women, when the Your Tea shop restocks, but until then, I’ll have to settle for ordering another 28-day stash of the shrinking potion. Drats.
