M&K Food Reset – Day #1

In Life by LauraLeave a Comment

The first day was far from brutal. Despite having my first meeting of the day at 7:45 a.m. and continuing that trend through the entire afternoon – it was still far from brutal.

The pumpkin juice was a bit odd. Like drinking pie. While I’m not a pumpkin fan, I managed to chug it down while fighting traffic on the way to my meeting. Pumpkin burps, on the other hand, are kind of awful.

Lunch was exciting. More than anything, I spent most of the day just being really proud of myself. Proud for surviving Sunday’s cooking fiasco. Proud that I was actually organized enough to bring my lunch for once. Generally, just proud.

It was an easy lunch too. I know my biggest struggle is social eating and drinking. I love to go out with friends and will typically order whatever is easy just to sit around and talk for a bit. Luckily, the pick for lunch on the go was Taco Bell. Unless I’m severely drunk and it’s about 3 a.m. – Taco Bell never sounds delicious to me. So, I was more than happy to munch on my brussels sprouts, mushrooms and roasted chicken.

Dinner was slightly less exciting. I’m half sure that I screwed up the carrot soup. My “soup” was more like a straight on puree and the texture was more like what I expected from the pumpkin juice. The flavor was amazing, but I absolutely couldn’t get through the texture. Every bite collapsed my chest in a full-body “REVOLT!” I managed to eat quite a few bites of it, then settled for more roasted chicken. Which I love. Like a whole lot.

And lemon water. Specifically hot lemon water. I quickly discovered that my love for coffee is less about actually enjoying hot bean water and more about wanting something warm. With coffees and teas out of the picture for a bit, hot lemon water is my new security blanket. I might actually like it better anyway. This could totally be a keeper.

Just when I thought I’d survived without any troubles, I spent the night dreaming of cheesy, greasy Casey’s gas station pizza. This might actually be a little harder than expected.
