You may not look forward to your annual mammogram with sheer excitement and crazy anticipation, but the Center for Women’s Care at Saint Luke’s North Hospital is giving you yet another reason not to dread it. The center’s monthly Mammogram and Massage Day offers patients the opportunity to grab a bite to eat, relax in the lobby and enjoy a free massage following their appointment.
While I’m not quite ready for a mammogram of my own, I joined the Center for Women’s Care team at their May event to see just what the fuss was about. Honestly, if my annual well woman exams came with even a fraction of this spread, I’d probably enjoy them quite a bit more too.
Women dotted the cozy sofas and comfy chairs of the lounge — each enjoying healthy wraps, fruit, candies, cinnamon rolls, coffee and more. Many shared stories, including their personal strategies for keeping such appointments light. While some came with a friend, others scheduled appointments in mother-daughter pairs. And many simply chose to take advantage of the ultra-relaxing massage chair.
The next Mammogram and Massage Day at the Center for Women’s Care is Thursday, June 16, 2015. Participation in the event does require an appointment — but that can be easily scheduled by calling their office at 816-891-2273.
