Weeks ago, my friend Shanda messaged me with yet another infamous text. She’d won another free vacation and I would be going with her.
Keep in mind, last March, we flew to New Orleans to hop abroad the Sail Across the Sun cruise with Train. Yes, the band. We spent four day cruising to Cozumel and back – free of charge.
Insanity.
So, when she announced yet another huge radio win in under a year – I couldn’t wait to hear where we’d go. Once again, it was bonkers.
Last weekend, we jet set to Los Angeles to rock a few amazing days downtown. Our girls’ weekend kicked off with Sprinkles Cupcakes, a trip to the Grammy Museum. Then, we snagged last-minute tickets to see Elton John live at the Staples Center in his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
That shit was already plenty of bananas, but it didn’t really stop. We stayed at the swanky Hotel Indigo – again, free. Toured The Broad Museum – free. And, sang and danced to some ’00s Kelly Clarkson magic at the Staples Center once more – also free.
Layer in that the flights were covered, we had pillow chocolates from room service every night and I’m nearly certain that better prize packages don’t really exist.
Back in the office this week – I’m hardcore dreaming of our rockstar weekend and the amazing, amazing art we spotted. Plus, that magic mimosa from the little breakfast dive we found. In the 70º weather at that.
Ah! LA. Everything I needed to cure some of these Midwest wintery blues. Back to the arctic.
