Fabulous Finds at Common Era Clothing Boutique

Take a peek at the display behind the counter at Common Era and you’ll realize, immediately, that you’re shopping in someplace special. From just steps inside the Boulder, Colorado, boutique it’s easy to spot the small paper sign — “Girls Do Not Dress For Boys.”

The mantra, shared by owner Debra Mazur, sets the tone for the shop full of powerful pieces, personal statements and simply gorgeous styles. Like many boutiques, each piece is inspired by her personal style preferences and fashion intuition. But what sets it apart are more than 20 years of history as a go-to clothing boutique in Boulder and now Denver. Debra’s own background and passions for fashion and styling have fueled Common Era over time. The collection reflects her read on trends at any given moment, allowing the style of the shop to evolve with the style of the ‘era.’

From wall to wall, phenomenal clothing, handbags, accessories and shoes flood the shop. Beneath the bright accent walls, sleek and modern displays showcase an eclectic mix of edgy must-buys — complete with just the right amount of quirk. One of my favorite finds includes display after display of stunning local accessories and gifts made by the hands of local artisans — all absolutely stunning.

Like the local inventory, Debra partners with designers and manufacturers directly to stock beautiful finds at extremely reasonable prices. In fact, it was exceptionally easy to find multiple perfect dresses for the season that easily fit within a $60 budget. Or snag a pair of amazing tops in that same range. And, look no father for the season’s go-to shoes — Common Era’s beautiful inventory of Seychelles Footwear will have your feet feeling fab in no time.

Common EraHeading toward Spring, Deb highlighted a few of her must-have pieces for the style obsessed: really great skinny denim, a distressed denim jacket and those unbeatable Seychelles booties. The jacket is so on trend at the moment that, while she modeled it, a customer walked in rocking it in her own awesome fashion. That’s a woman with her hand on the pulse of the industry.

Ultimately, I was blown away by Common Era’s Boulder shop (there’s one in Denver too!). Not only was it gorgeous and airy — I felt overwhelmingly at home among Deb’s awesome style. Each piece was uniquely beautiful, wildly versatile and so thoughtfully chosen. I cannot wait to head back to choose many for my own collection!
